Astrology is a science, the study of the movements and relative positions of celestial bodies interpreted as having an impact on hum affairs and the natural world. Astrology often called Astromancy (divination by the stars), includes of various systems of divination, mainly established on the premise which has a keen relationship with astronomical phenomena and some events in the natural world. There are so many cultures have joined with the importance to astronomical events and the Indians, Chinese and Mayans elaborated different systems for the purpose of predicting terrestrial events from the celestial observations. It is said that in the Western Countries astrology mainly consists of birth charts or natal charts of horoscopes to explain of personality, life, career, and for the purpose of overall life predictions about the past, present and future events based on the positions of planets like sun, moon and other celestial objects at the time of birth. All most all the astrologers trust on this system.

History of Astrology

In the history of mankind, astrology is considered one of the most popular and scholarly tradition from ancient time. It was accepted in the political and academic contexts and was joined with other studies too like astronomy, alchemy, metrology and medicine. At the end of the 17^th Century, some new scientific inventions and descriptions in astronomy and physics like heliocentrism and Newtonian mechanics called the astrology into question. Scientific Analysis and Criticism

Many scientific communities have been rejected the truth, validity and utility of astrology and told that there is not explanatory power for the purpose of describing the universe and is considered a pseudoscience (A collection of beliefs or practices mistakenly regarded as being based on scientific method). Astrology has not indicated its validity in controlled studies and has no scientific truth. There it has made falsifiable predictions under controlled circumstances, they have been falsified. One of the most famous experiment conducted with 28 astrologers who were questioned to match over a 100 birth or natal charts to psychological profiles produced by the California Psychological Inventory questionnaire. The study and experiment was conducted by a group of physicists and a group of astrologers selected by the National Council for Geocosmic Research. They came to chose 26 out of 28 astrologers for the purpose of the tests. The study was published in Nature in 1985 and found that the predictions conducted with those birth chart or natal chart astrology were not better than chance and that the examination clearly refutes the astrological hypothesis.

Astrology, Western Politics and Society

In many western countries leaders have often consulted with astrologers. Louis de Wohl worked as an astrologer for the purpose of British Intelligence Agency, after it was declared that Adlof Hitler used astrology to the time or his actions. There is a growth period in the interest of astrology in the late 1960s.

India and Japan

In India and Japan there is a long term foundation of astrology and it is widespread belief in astrology. Astrology generally used there for the purpose of predicting regular life, about marriage, career, finance, relationship and more. It has been using extensively of electional, horary and karmic astrology. Indian Politics has also been influenced by astrology to serve different purposes. It is still considered a branch f Vedanga. In the year of 2001, many scientists and politicians of India debated and critiqued a proposal to use the state finance to fund research into the subject and at last the permission for Indian Universities to propose courses in Vedic Astrology. And, in Japan, a very strong belief in Astrology has led to marked changes in the fertility rate and the number of abortions in the years of “Fire Horse”.

In Literature and Music

The 14th century poets like John Gower and Geoffrey Chaucer had taken some concept from astrology in their works, like Gower’s Confessio amantis and Chaucer’s The Cantebury Tales. In the 16^th Century John, Lyly’s The Woman in the Moon was motivated by astrology and Christopher Marlowe had taken a few references from astrology for his plays Doctor Faustus and Tamburlaine. So, it has been proved that the truth and validity of astrology not only influenced general people in different ages in different countries but also influenced different rationalist as well.
